A Rookie Debut, the Pacers’ devastating loss to the Grizzlies

Following the Pacer’s loss to Memphis, Tom Lewis of SB Nation recalls Myles’ performance in his first NBA outing.

He entered late 1st quarter but had a 25-second stretch that really showcased the type of contribution the Pacers can expect from him this year. The play that started it was an all-out rejection of JaMychal Green’s shot to force a jump ball. After giving the Pacers possession, Monta Ellis slip into the paint for a missed layup. Out of nowhere, MT crashes the board and enters the scoring column with an emphatic dunk. Myles described the play:

“It felt like a statement,” Turner said. “With it being a tip dunk that was a cool way to get my first two points.”

As of now, Lewis notes that Vogel has him in the rotation as a backup center. Most likely splitting minutes with Ian Mahinmi and CJ Miles. The debut boosted everyone’s confidence about what his rookie season would look like. Hopefully we get to see more MT action in the coming game versus the Utah Jazz on Saturday.
