Myles Turner Records Career High In Single Game Made 3-Pointers

INDIANAPOLIS — Myles Turner put together one of the best performances of his career on December 12, 2016, against the Charlotte Hornets. He recorded 22 points (9-of-16 FG, 4-of-7 3PT), seven rebounds, one steal, and four blocks. In fact, his performance registered a 19.1 game score, and that is the sixth highest of his career. Within this particular performance, he executed on four 3-pointers, which set a new career high for made 3-pointers in a single game.

Turner has truly picked up his perimeter shooting pace as of late. He has made a total of 14 3-pointers this season and eight of those 3-pointers have come in his last four games. His accuracy has dramatically improved as well. Turner is shooting 8-of-16 on 3-pointers in December. As for his perimeter shooting before December, he shot 6-of-21 (28.6 percent) on his 3-pointers.

Even after just 24 games this season, Turner has more than tripled the total of 3-pointers that he has made this year compared to his rookie season. Last season, Turner made three 3-pointers, and he shot 21.4 percent from beyond the arc. Not only has Turner dramatically improved his volume of perimeter makes this season, but his efficiency has skyrocketed as well. He has already converted on 14 3-pointers this season and is shooting 37.8 percent from the perimeter.

Turner converted on his first 3-pointer of the game with 9:26 remaining in the first quarter.

Turner made his second 3-pointer of the match at the 4:19 mark of the first quarter.

Turner executed on his third 3-pointer on the night with 4:06 left in the third quarter.

Turner hit his fourth and final 3-pointer of the match with 1:12 to go in the fourth quarter.

Turner’s impact went beyond just 3-point shooting against the Hornets. He tied Paul George for the highest scoring performance on the night with 22 points, and he had a team-high seven rebounds, a team-high four blocks, and he tied for a team-high in steals with one. Turner showcased his versatility against Charlotte with this display, and it’s a real testament to his potential as a player.

Turner put together a rather unprecedented performance for his age.

Not many players this season have managed to match the versatile production that Turner had against the Charlotte Hornets. As for the players that have matched such criteria this season, it’s impressive company.

The 2016-17 season has been a success so far for Turner. In fact, he is legitimately averaging career highs in every single statistical category and major shooting percentage. He is posting averages of 15 points, 7.2 rebounds, one assist, 0.9 steals, 2.3 blocks, and 1.5 turnovers. His shooting efficiency has been excellent as well. He is shooting 53.4 percent from the field, 37.8 percent on 3-pointers, and 80.2 percent on free throws. It is certainly safe to say that Turner is making the most of his expanded opportunities during the second season of his career.
