Myles Turner earns spot on USA Basketball 2019 FIBA World Cup team

Myles Turner makes 2019 USA Basketball Men’s FIBA World Cup team

The USA Basketball men’s program finalized their 12-man roster for the 2019 FIBA World Cup following their loss to Australia at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. Myles Turner was among the finalists to make the final roster.

With Kyle Kuzma recently injuring his left ankle, the team decided that they would cut him since he would be unable to participate going forward. There was a need for only one additional roster cut and Kuzma’s injury made the decision for them.

Myles is a member of a roster that includes the following the players; Brook Lopez (Milwaukee Bucks); Derrick White (San Antonio Spurs); Donovan Mitchell (Utah Jazz); Harrison Barnes (Sacramento Kings); Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics); Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics); Joe Harris (Brooklyn Nets); Kemba Walker (Boston Celtics); Khris Middleton (Milwaukee Bucks); Marcus Smart (Boston Celtics); Mason Plumlee (Denver Nuggets); and Myles Turner (Indiana Pacers).

The FIBA World Cup is scheduled from Aug. 31-Sept. 15 in China but in the meantime, the USA Basketball men’s program will be spending time in Sydney to prepare. They will hold practices from Aug. 25, 27, and 28 with an exhibition against Canada on Aug. 26.

The final stop for the USA Basketball men’s program will be in China and they will be there from Aug. 29 with the potential of staying until Sept. 15 if they make it all the way to the Finals. The official game schedule shows that they are scheduled to play Czech Republic (Sept. 1), Turkey (Sept. 3), and Japan (Sept. 5) in Shanghai.

The Second Round of the FIBA World Cup will take place across China in Foshan, Nanjing, Shenzen, and Wuhan from Sept. 6-9. The Quarterfinals will take place in Dongguan and Shanghai from Sept. 10-11 while the Semifinals (Sept. 13) and Finals (Sept. 15) will be held in Beijing.
